Listening Example #13
_______ from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens
From Wikipedia:
- VII- ________
Strings without double-bass, two pianos, flute, and glass harmonica: This is one of the more musically rich movements. The melody is played by the flute, backed by the strings, on top of tumultuous, glissando like runs in the piano. The first piano plays a descending ten-on-one ostinato, while the second plays a six-on-one. These figures, plus the occasional glissando from the harmonica—often played on celesta or glockenspiel—are evocative of a peaceful, dimly-lit ________.

This piece is called Aquarium from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens. She wrote many pieces that represent different animals. This one was fish in an aquarium.
Throughout the piece I heard many different instruments. These include the piano, flute, violins, and cellos.
Although I do not listen to this kind of music, it was very pretty. At first I thought it was representing some kind of bird, but it makes sense that this nice flowing piece was written for an aquarium.

Aquarium is written by Camille Saint-Saens, and is from the album Carnival. This piece is based on fish, since she wrote many songs that represented different species of animals.
Throughout the tune you could easily hear pianos, strings, and possibly a flute, I am not so sure.
I wouldn’t listen to this song normally. But I admit it has a nice beat to it, and the piano is exceptionally good.

This piece was called the aquarium. It was written by Camille saint saens. It is only one part of the carnival series.
I heard violins and bass and flute and i also heard an occasional violin. The song went from high to low notes and from low to high note.
I didn’t like this song at all. It really stunk. I would never ever again in my life want to listen to a song like that. They should of added son AcDc in it. It was like sitting through a school play and you just wanted to leave but you couldn’t.

Aquarium from carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens is an impressionist piece in which the composer attemps to mimic the sights, sounds and emotions of an aquarium through music.
This piece contains violins a flute and a piano throughout the piece as well as a few other instrumenst. All of these come together to produce the rising sound of bubbles, the spreding of ripples and the switches from high to low to becom a shark.
I loved this piece, I thought the aquarium was produced perfectly and that the way it came together created a peaceful air that really makes you think about the beauty of nature.

this piece was written by Camille Saintsaen in the Romantic Period. This piece is about an aquarium. In the piece Camille tries to make the sounds of an aquarium with music.
In this piece I heard a lot of instraments like the violin, piano, bass, and harp. The notes in this piece went from high to low and repeated.
I thought that this piece was very bizarre and annoying. My reasons for this is that the music kept on changing from low to high low to high, and ticked me off a little. My reasons for this piece being bizzare is because i wonder, who would write music about an aquarium?

This piece was aquarium in carnival of the animals by Camille Saint-Seans. It is an impressionist pice from the late romance era.
In this piece I heard the composer try to mimic the rising of bubbles, the fluttering of ripples, and the movements of fish. Some of the instruments I heard were violins, pianos, and glass harmonicas.
I wouldn’t listen to this kind of music normally, but this was very peaceful. I liked when the composer mimiced the bubbles.

This “Aquarium” piece was from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens. It is from the late Romantic Era.
In this piece I heard Camille Saint-Saens have a piano, harp, and violins play ascending and descending notes to try to imitate fish and other underwater creatures. He tried to mimick bubbles and ripples.
I did not like this piece very much because I do not like the combination of violin, piano, harp. Every time the harp played a note, it sent shivers up my spine and irritated me. I like the idea Camille Saint-Saens had, but I did not like how it came out.

This piece is called Aqarium from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens. This is just one piece in the Carnival of the Animals series. This song was about fish in an aqarium.
In this piece, I heard violins, cellos, bass, a flute, a piano, and a harp. Camille Saint-Saens was trying to imitate a fish and other animals swimming in water with help from the flute and violins, and used the piano to create a bubbly effect.
Although I would not normally listen to something like this, I found it very peaceful and relaxing.

This piece is titled Aquarium and it is one piece from the symphony Carnival of the Animals. This symphony was composed by Camille Saint-Saens.
In this piece, I heaed what sounded like water flowing, fish swimming, and bubbles moving however I knew that it was not that. It really was pianos, violins, and other instruments found in orchestras.
Even though this is not what I normally would listen to, it did create a very cool effect of sounding like water.

the second paragraph should say I heard what sounded… not heaed
sorry!

The piece we listened to was the the Aquarium by Camille Saint-Saens. It was written in the late Romantic Era and early Impressionist Era. The Aquirium piece is one of many pieces in the Carnival of the Animals symphony.
After comparing the Aquarim to a Beauty and the Beast song they souned very similar. The instruments that i heard were the harp and the violin. One piano part sounded like the fish was swimming deeper and deeper because the piano was going lower and lower. Another part sounded like a school of fish keep changing directions because the piano went low to high, low to high.
In my opinion it was a beautiful piece. You could imagine different images in your head while listening to the changes in notes. This is not my typical type of music but it was a nice change.

The piece we listened to in calss was called, Aquarium from the Carnival of the Animals. This piece was written by CamillenCason in the late romantic era, and it is an impressionist piece.
When the music first started playing, it started off very slowly. It sounded like there were bubbles playing allong with the music, and at some parts, it would be a little faster than others. It sounded like violins were playing and they were very high. It also sounded like there was an piano and a harp. At some parts, the piano would play very soft, and then very hard. In some places, the music would all of a sudden drop very low and there, the music sounded totally different from the rest of the piece. I thought this part sounded kind of creepy, and yet it still seemed to fit into the rest of the piece. I think the way the instruments were played were meant to sound like water movements. When the harp was played, I thought i heard small ripples of waves, and small waves of water flowing throughout the piece.
I really enjoyed listening to this. It was ver calming and relaxing, except for the part when the music dropped very low. I thought that sounded like it belonged in a horror movie rather than in a piece like this. This selection of music was very smooth and calm, and made me feel like I was sailing through the ocean.

In class, we listened to a piece called Carnival of the Animals by Camille Cason. The Carnival of the Animals was written to imitate certain animals, but the one we listened to represented fish. This piece was written in the late romantic period.
In this piece I heard many violins and string instruments. i also heard a piano and a harp. The piano and harp sounded like bubbles and ripples moving outward. The violins sounded like fish swimming. The intruments’ tones constantly went up and then down and so on.
I really liked this piece because it was very relaxing. It was incredible how much it sounded like fish swimming, ripples moving, and bubbles. This piece was very well written.

Camille Saint-Saens composed the piece Aquarium for the Carnival of the Animals. It is the seventh movement of fourteen; all fourteen were composed in 1886, originally for a chamber group.
What would a piece be without a piano, strings and an additional flute that plays the melody? The sound of rippling of the water and bubbles probably gave the idea of it being an aquarium away. Ten-on-one “ostinato”, accompanied with a six-on-one and the harmonica playing a “glissando.”
I’ve never actually heard of the Carnival of the Animals. It must have been difficult to take instruments and make sounds that resemble nature. I enjoyed Aquarium because of the lax vibes that it gives off to people who hear it; one good thing about music class. All fourteen movements seem wonderful, especially the Tortoise, Swan and well, the Aquarium.
(Sorry ’bout the late post.)

This piece of music is called Aquarium from the Carnival of Animals. It was composed by Camille Saint-Saens. She wrote many other versions that were of different animals.
In this piece, I heard some strings, a piano, a flute, and a harp. The piano was playing arpeggios which represented a fish swimming through an aquarium. The loved the piano. The strings, flute, and harp were in the background.
I liked this song although it wasn’t one of my favorites. I considered that classical although I know it’s not. It sounded very peaceful though which is always good. I think Camille did a great job representing nature with only a few instruments. She must’ve worked very hard to get it to sound like that.
Sorry for posting this late.
